Historic Legacy

50th & France has grown from a quiet neighborhood retail area to a regionally acclaimed destination with a strong historic legacy. It is the standard that other community business districts aspire to become: Culturally vibrant with timeless architecture, convenient parking and walkable streets. As the area continues to grow and flourish, the City of Edina identified an opportunity to create a friendlier and more accessible business district. We're excited, being both residents and the selected development partner, to bring additional improvements to our neighborhood.

We aim to complement the timeless nature of this important part of Edina by providing a pedestrian-friendly expansion of the 50th & France business district, charming four-season gathering spaces and improved amenities to accommodate ease-of-use. The same core principles that have made 50th & France successful have been infused into our design and include cultural elements, timeless building design, expanded parking and increased connectivity to the surrounding areas.

What Residents and Business Owners Are Saying

This is an exciting project that fits the fabric of the neighborhood and allows for an improved shopping experience. It wasn’t" long ago that 50th and France was home to Arby’s fast food, Sinclair gas station and the Brown Derby bar. The project builds on the recent improvements and adds charming space for additional retail that will compliment my business. “ – Bryan M. (50th & France business owner)

“My daughter danced at the tree lighting ceremony this past December. It’s remarkable to see how this project can improve cultural experiences like those by creating better spaces to gather. I love the architecture and underground parking. With such a family friendly space I envision frequently coming to new plaza and shops in all seasons “– Kate K. (Edina resident)

“I lived in the apartments behind the north parking lot for a number of years. This plan is exactly what I would have wanted to see - keeping the parking on the north helps to maintain the quiet backyard while creating charming and appropriately scaled development to the South of 49  1/2 Street. I now live south of 50th and France by a few blocks and I look forward to visiting the new extension of 50th!” – Kristen O. (Arden Park resident)

“I’ve known these guys for quite a while. They’ve always displayed excellent character and I firmly believe they have the city of Edina’s best interest in mind moving forward. They’ve done great things in other cities and bring a great balance of development skills and deep local roots. I support the project.” – Brett J. (Edina Hilltop restaurant owner)
